Glory

I enjoyed this movie. I didn't love it but I enjoyed it. This was a great way to show how the 54th Massachusetts Regiment came into play and how so many things evolved from it. The movie always kept me on my toes and I was never really bored of it. I liked the realness of the movie and how the movie really displayed the true events happening. I give these soldiers a lot of credit for being so brave and committed during this time. Personally, it would be very hard for me to still fight while everyone around me was getting shot and dying. I would defiantly recommend this movie to others. It's a great way to learn about the 54th Massachusetts and it really shows you the true events and you kind of start to become part of the movie by the end.

I believe people are willing to die for their country because they feel so strongly about the cause that they are fighting for. These soldiers risk their lives so that others can have more opportunities which I think is a heroic thing in itself. Also, our country gives many people many opportunities and these brave men and women fight for their lives I believe to return the favor in some way. Yes, I think the men of the 54th Massachusetts are heroic and so is Shaw. In both cases they risked their lives to give more opportunities to the African American community and to show that everyone is equal. Shaw stood up for what was right and didn't look back! He knew what he had to do and he wanted to accomplish his goals and I believe he did.

This story is very significant because it was a big step for African Americans fighting on the front line. This was never really thought about until the 54th Massachusetts came into play. This was significant because it was a chance for African Americans to move forward in the battle for freedom. The 54th Massachusetts truly proved that these brave men would do anything for their country and will fight until the end as long as they have made an impact on society. This showed that with great power comes great strength. These men trained and mentally prepared for the battles and fought until they couldn't fight anymore. Their heroic actions are ones that will be remembered forever.

  1. I like the fact that Casey felt like the movie kept her on her toes just like I felt like it did. And I completely agree with her that if everyone around me was getting shot and I was seeing my friends get hurt, I don't know how I would be able to stay focused. We saw the soldiers in the movie glance around and half of the people they were friends with had all been injured or dead, yet they still moved forward. I also agree with her that Shaw is and should be considered a hero for taking on the challenging task of the 54th. He made the tough decision that he ended up giving up his life for.

  2. I agree with Casey that the movie was very enjoyable and kept you interested. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next and where the plot was going to go next. I also think that the soldiers were very brave and committed and they are all special people. They had so much confidence and were willing to risk their lives and be part of something that has never been done before. They will always be remembered for the courage and they changed the world for the better.

  3. I agree with everything that Casey said also. Manley, "I give these soldiers a lot of credit for being so brave and committed during this time. Personally, it would be very hard for me to still fight while everyone around me was getting shot and dying." I don't know how these soldiers manage to do this because I wouldn't been able to. It showed how strong they are and Casey made a good point for me to realize. This was a wonderful over view for the movie Glory.

  4. The soldiers who fall deserve to be honored because they left behind their family and other things just for the country and they gave their life protecting us and getting back our freedom. They are the reason why America is still in this good shape.

  5. I agree with your comment that, "I believe people are willing to die for their country because they feel so strongly about the cause that they are fighting for." I have the same opinion in my blog. I think that if you care enough about a cause, dying seems like a small price to pay for what you love.
